New Forest Exbury Gardens
Exbury Gardens founded by the late Lionel Rothschild in 1919 is a large woodland style garden that stretches over 200-acres on the edge of the Beaulieu river.
Home to large collections of rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias and are considered the finest gardens of their type in the United Kingdom. There are over 26 miles of paths and underground piping and colourful surprises around every corner.
The gardens are best seen from the seat of a chauffeured buggy driven by a knowledgeable guide during a 50-minute journey or you can ride around part of the garden on a miniature steam train. The journey takes about 20-minutes.
Exbury House whilst still part of the Rothschild estate was a central part of the organisation of D-Day when it was known as HMS Mastodon.
